North to Alaska and Back
Today we drove 270 miles on the Alaska Highway from Watson Lake to Whitehorse, Yukon. Here are some observations about this section of the highway:
• It didn’t take long for bugs to be splattered all over the windshield. Even the motorcycles here had windshields.
• The majority of vehicles using the highway were some form of rv: motor homes, campers, fifth wheels, pop-ups and trailers.
• There weren’t many big trucks, but the most common truck was either a tankard carrying gas or a highway construction vehicle.
• Road conditions were better than previous sections.
• There were a handful of bicyclists slowly pedaling on the shoulder of the road with huge saddlebags, and tired faces…not my idea of fun.
• Much of 78-mile-long Lake Teslin followed the highway. The color was icy blue,
• No cell service. Actually this was day three of no cell service. Hard to take!

Day 17 - On to Whitehorse, Yukon
