Had a wonderful cooked and continental breakfast prepared by our great hosts and met fellow guests, Barbara and Russ from South Africa, as well as an American couple who were also travelling around the South Island. Unfortunately, it was raining so we drove to Franz Joseph for a bit of a browsing around its shops (not a lot of choice)... and had a loooooong coffee break, waiting for rain to stop. When it finally cleared we then went for a nice walk around Mathieson Lake. The sun appeared while we were walking so we were able to enjoy the magnificent mirror image of the surrounding mounting peaks in the lake's reflection. The vegetation around the lake was lush with moss and lichens everywhere, creating an abundance of green shade.
Our appetite boosted we both attended another "wine & cheese" gathering with our hosts and other guests, then headed to town for a soul warming, yummy chowder at "The Last Kitchen".
