My diary

Similie: Comparison of two or more things

Example:"as happy as a clam" comparing someone's happiness to the contentment of a clam.
"Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." comparing the uncertainty of life to the uncertainty of choosing a chocolate from a box.

Metaphor: A metaphor is a comparison between two unlike things not using the word “is”, "are" or “am” to make the comparison.

Example: The detective listened to her tales with a wooden face.
She was fairly certain that life was a fashion show.
The typical teenage boy’s room is a disaster area.
What storms then shook the ocean of my sleep.

Hyperbole: is the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. In rhetoric, it is also sometimes known as auxesis. In poetry and oratory, it emphasizes, evokes strong feelings, and creates strong impressions. As a figure of speech, it is usually not meant to be taken literally.

Example: I am so hungry I could eat a horse.
I have a million things to do.
I had to walk 15 miles to school in the snow, uphill.
I had a ton of homework.
If I can’t buy that new game, I will die.
Why I wake early

Onomatopoeia: is defined as a word, which imitates the natural sounds of a thing. It creates a sound effect that mimics the thing described, making the description more expressive and interesting.

Example: Meow
Moo
