On Tuesday I taught the kids by myself. Rosi had to go to the hospital, so I had to take care of lessons. It went really well, I think. Luckily I only had third year classes, and we had the material prepared already so I could do the same thing three times. I played the memory game with them. I explained in English, we played the game, and then they copied the sentences, translated them, and made little drawings with them. They didn't like that they had to make drawings. The first class got it eventually, but they were very loud, and complained the most about having to draw pictures. They were also the only class in which only three of them finished the work. The second class got it right away when I explained what was going to happen. They played the game nicely and everyone finished their work on time. They also had the highest participation of the three classes, I think everyone spoke at least once. The third and last class was reasonably fast in understanding the English, but they didn't feel like working so it took them forever to finish.
Wednesday was a good day. The weather was amazing, so I did my washing and hung it out to dry, then I went hiking up the mountain (which I am not allowed to call a mountain) behind Urubamba. The one we hiked up on Sunday as well. I found where the trail started and headed up. Unfortunately I ran into a random sheep on the path. It started bleating at me and I wasn't really sure what to do. I mean, it's a sheep, what is it going to do? Then again, it was square in my way and I couldn't exactly climb over it. I tried going around it, but there was no other way. So I decided to just try and push the sheep aside. Which worked really well, since the sheep just sort of stepped aside onto the hillside, and I was on the right track again. Behind the sheep was a dog that I hadn't noticed yet, but it was fast asleep so no problem there. I thought I would have to stop a gazillion times on the way to the top, but turns out twice was enough. I went at a snail pace, but I got up there. Up on the mountain is such a wonderful place to be. It has views of the entire sacred valley, Urubamba is spread out below (I could see my laundry drying on the roof of my house), and on the other side there is more valley and then snow capped mountains. On top of the mountain you don't need to worry about anything, the past and the future just don't exist. So I chilled on a bench, had a snack, some water, took some pictures, and headed back down.
Back home I changed rooms. Mine didn't have a window, and I was getting a little claustrophobic in there. This room does have a window and it opens too. It's so nice to get some light.
In the afternoon I went to the PA social. We had a pottery workshop where we made little bowls (that we were not allowed to take home, and were destroyed after we left). After the social I went for pizza with Georgia and Ditte, and after that I went dancing. It was a long long day, but also a really nice one.
