Hidden Gem of the Adriatic.....

Kotor, Montenegro, 06.08.2017

A lazy travel day in Montenegro. Got up at 9 and went to Nikolai's palace to check it out before we went to Kotor. Turned out to be a small museum with pretty basic stuff in it. Didn't spend much time there. Grabbed some snacks from a market and headed to the bus station. Got on a really run-down bus with a couple other locals and headed north. We have seen pictures of Kotor but we're unsure if it was any different than what we have seen already in Montenegro. After a 2 hour trip we went through a mountain tunnel and came out in Kotor. WOW! This place is beautiful and a must see for all. Mountains are rugged that come down to a nice ocean bay. There is a fortress which we will hike up to tomorrow that goes up the side of the mountain beside this really quaint old walled city. Our AirBnb is right in the middle of the old town. You walk out of the place to narrow cobblestone streets amidst a fantastic mountain background that stops right at your door. My pictures cannot appreciate this place. We sat down to a great dinner of spiced kolbassa and Greek salad. Of course a beer as well. Hiking tomorrow will be tough but very worthwhile. Expect to have an easy day enjoying this unexpected delight.
