We got up, packed, and left for the Athens, Greece airport by 9:45 am. We will definitely miss the view of the Parthenon!
The Greece airport was interesting. The check-baggage line was quite long and super slow. Then they wanted us to pay to wrap the boosters in saran wrap and send them that way, so I ran down to where that station was and ran back. Peter was a strong Daddy and carried a lot of the girls luggage. Scotty had Marco-polo'd that they had tried some Greek pistachio nougat candy, so as we were walking through the airport and had a couple extra minutes we stopped in a shop and found some! The girls all liked it! They said it tasted like it had marshmallows in it. Fun to try something new! Our flight was just under 2 hours and after we got through the visa line, the passport line, the money exchange line, and found our luggage, our driver was waiting for us. Emma was so tired she fell asleep on the way to our Airbnb. The driver was very nice and with his limited English taught us "Salaam", meaning greeting/peace; and "Shukran", for thank you. He stopped and exchanged one of our big bills for smaller ones, and then took us to our apartment. Jamal, the apartment owner, came down and helped us with our luggage up all the steps. He came in and visited and his 8 year old daughter (Makkah, prounounced "muh-kah") came too. She was carrying a kitten in a baby snuggie. The girls went crazy! I went crazy! Too cute! :D The apartment is very lovely. The woodwork is beautiful! Jamal came over a little later with Makkah and two kittens, and visited for a long time. He pointed out many spots to us from the balcony and told us of the best places to go to eat. All the while the girls got to love on the kittens. We are only a 5 minute walk from the center of town, which we are excited about!
