Bachelor exchange in Buenos Aires

Birthday? Now? Wait, I am not ready! Shaking my head, I rise from my bed and try to quickly improve my appearance. My roommates march into my room, singing me a happy birthday with matching cake and candle. With hair standing and puffy eyes, I blow the candle and thank the special people who surprised me with a meaningful mini celebration! Little did I know..

August 24 normally falls on a vacation in the Netherlands, so this was my first time to go to school on my birthday. It was fun, but I have to admit I had some trouble focusing and paying attention in class.

I am in a crazy whirlwind process of finishing my bachelor degree, figuring out what I wish to do in the future, and preparing to embark on life as a strong, independent young woman. Battling millions of thoughts at the same time, it is easy to forget to take a moment to just stop stressing and enjoy. Fortunately, I planned a dinner with my exchange friends, which was a great distraction.

1810 Cocina Regional proved a good option to host my birthday get together. The venue was great, and our table was set up perfectly on the first floor surrounded by a transparent glass box. Ideal for about any special large party occasion! The restaurant had an interesting selection of regional dishes, and as I couldn’t pick a favourite, Eline and I decided to share two: Carbonada (Bittersweet stew with peaches, corn, vegetables and beef) and Pastel de la Granja (Butternut squash, chicken pie cooked au gratin). Everything went extremely well from main dish to dessert, and cocktails in the bar!
