- 1st level of healthcare is consultorios (in polyclinics)
+ patient is seen at consultorios and any other medical service from birth until death
+ patient fall under these categories: healthy, at risk, sick, or disabled
+ walk-ins are available and urgent care is 24 hrs
+ 17 categories of preventive care and promotion of health
- 2nd level of healthcare is hospitals
+ surgery and specialized treatments
- 3rd level of healthcare is research institutes
- all 3 levels have feedback built in so all patient information is available at all levels
- example: primary doctor always needs to see what was done to his/her patient at level 2 and 3

Promotion of Healthy Habits
- awareness workshops are given at schools, work places, etc.
- challenges: difficult to get people to change their lifestyle

Sex Education
-starts in 4th grade
- first thing they teach is to understand the changes that children will face in their bodies and feelings
- teachers are taught how to teach sex ed
- middle school age
+ STI's
+ body issues
+ therapist/psychologist teaches about relationships
+ class on how to live with STI's (AIDS, herpes, other viruses) because a family member might have the illness
