Auckland to Oxford. One term to go and learn.

Our last week or so in Oxford has been up and down. The weather has been a mixed bag of rain, shine, cold wind, mildly warm ... you could say a stereotypical English summer! A few of us have had a cold which has made things a bit harder but I've still been keen to get out and about, aware that our time here is coming to an end!

The last week was pretty intense for Alex as he brought his work to a close. The hard work has paid off and he has written a 20,000 word report reflecting on what he has learned over the past 8 weeks.

A work related trip early in the week took us all to Leicester to visit a lovely couple recommended by our pastor as someone Alex must meet. We had a very special day, welcomed into Rodney and Helen Green's home like long lost friends and were blessed immeasurably by their hospitality.

Our final weekend in Oxford was sunny and warm as if to send us off on a high. We ended it yesterday celebrating Emily's 10th Birthday! The girls and I started it with a surprise rickshaw ride around the city for a final view of the main sites to imprint them on our minds.

Since we hadn't yet made it to the Cotswold Wildlife Park, we set off there for a fun afternoon seeing loads of animals we'd never seen before. Vultures, scarlet ibis, anacondas, lemurs, rhinos grazing on the lawn in front of a manor house, camels, porcupine.....

Oxford, we will miss our Victorian house, museums, beautiful architecture, canal running past our back garden, Brew coffee shop, runs & picnics in Port Meadow, walking your historic streets, bus rides to Summertown and around town, The Story Museum, farmers

markets and the place you provided for us to learn and grow as a family. XXX
