I’m in Hawaii! Currently I am getting ready to snorkel!!! I’m starting off with a Hawaii known activity! I took a boat to the West Maui Shoreline to the Coral Gardens and joined a group of people. I put on my mask and followed the leader who was taking my group into the water. My fins slipped onto my feet, and I took a look underwater. How beautiful! I saw hundreds of sea turtles. The leader told us about parrot fish, angel fish, triggerfish, and butterfly fish.
I love learning about the fish and the land! As we walked deeper into the water I learned that the fish feed off of the coral so most of the snorkeling destinations are my coral reefs.
I also got to see an octopus change color with it's scenery change. Octopi have special DNA which lets them blend into anything they happen to be in front of. They do this when they feel like they are in danger.
As we walked deeper in, I saw lots of Sea Turtles. Their families were traveling in the water. Some sea turtles can be up to 200 pounds! Most sea turtles can live up to 60-70 years! That is a long time for most animal species.
After watching the sea turtles in their habitats, we left the coral reef and dried off. I returned my snorkeling gear and set off to go soak up more Maui, Hawaii!
