December 28, 2015, was the only Sunday that we were in Suriname. Of course my grandparents wanted for us to experience church in Suriname. They decided that they wanted to take us to a Dutch service and and English service.
The first service we went to first was the Dutch service. It was interesting listening to the music and sermon because there were cognates that helped me understand it at times. There were people dancing during the music and singing along. It was fun to dance with them and learn some new songs.
After the Dutch service, we went to the English service. There was no air conditioning in the English service, but there was in the Dutch one. So when we made it to the English service, it was very very hot. They sang some of the same songs as that were sung in the Dutch service. It wasn't as hyped as the other service, but it was still interesting to listen to.
After the service, we went to go get some Indian food at a local restaurant. It was a dish that consisted of curry, chicken, and a form of bread. We also tried a cake that was made by a family friend. It was made for my grandparents' anniversary. The cake had a sugary frosting and had cherries and other things in it. It was good, but not the kind of cake that I would want to eat on a regular basis.
