Rawa Gede: The Monument in Karawang

Me and my friend went to Monument Rawa Gede. First I went to Karawang Station to pick up my friend at 8 am, then we headed straight to our destination. The distance between the station and the monument is about 13 km with the trip takes around 1 hour by motorbike. We arrived at 9 am and immediately entered the monument because our friends were already waiting inside the monument.

Our friend in the monument is already with the guide. So we were immediately guided by the guide as soon as we entered. The guide name is mr Sukarman, he explained that the Rawa Gede Monument was built in 1995 to commemorate the mass massacre by the Dutch in 1947.

On the first floor there is a dioroma in a glass room with several statues and paintings to describe the condition of the place at that time. There are statues of a mother crying for her husband and their children because they died tragically. Besides that there are statues of soldiers wearing uniforms and carrying weapons after executing innocent citizens

There are stairs to the second floor totaling 17 steps. which means that the 17th is Indonesia's independence day.
The building is in the form of an 8 square, symbolizing the month of Indonesian independence, August. The pyramid is divided into 4 as high as 5 meters. It means the year of Indonesian independence, 1945.

On the 2nd floor there is a golden statue. This statue tells of a mother with her husband and child as victims of the Dutch massacre.

In the backyard of the monument there is a tomb of the heroes of the warriors who in particular have died in the Rawa Gede massacre

we finally left the monument at 12 pm because we already explored all area in the monument, It was a valuable experience to remember the heroes who had died there
