Koh Phangan Day 3

We had so much fun on the scooter yesterday that we decided to rent it again today. Once we found a happy medium between me wanting to go 30 and James wanting to 130, we were off and away. It's a little weird having to drive on the other side of the road here, sometimes we catch ourselves turning into the wrong lane.

We decided to go beach hunting. We took a map and away we went to the first beach, called Miami Beach. The water was turquoise blue, we ran into it as soon as we got there and quickly realized it felt more like a hot tub than it did refreshing. We waded around with me clung to James back. Everything was calm until James "swears" he stepped on a stingray and had a mini freak attack. We decided we'd get out of the water after that and grab a bite to eat. We both ate fried rice and mango smoothies while we looked over the ocean.

Once we mapped out the next beach we wanted to go to, we were off again. This beach was called Haad Yao beach, and after a few minor errors we found our way about a half hour later. We didn't really notice from the breeze on the bike but our arms were absolutely burnt. We even wore SPF 60! It's crazy how fast you burn here.

We stopped at a 7-eleven to grab a drink and a bag of chips to much on on the beach. We didn't end up staying to long though as our sunburns weren't treating us well. We hopped back on the scooter and headed back to our hotel just before dinner.

Tonight was the night of the famous Full Moon party. Our hotel had a pre party happening around the pool so we decided to join. There was music playing and a rum punch being served, it was fun! Everyone seemed pretty pumped up for the party. We had dinner at the restaurant on the resort. James tried the stir fry and I had the spring rolls, we both are SO impressed with the restaurant here, the food is delicious every time.

We went back to our room to get ready to the party. After sitting on the bed watching tv for a bit we both decided we'd have a quick power nap before we left. It's been over a week now and we still can't get used to the time change. We've been going to bed at 9pm and waking up at 6:30am almost every day, so a nap was definitely needed. James set an alarm and we fell asleep oh no time, both of us all dressed up.

Soooo.... This is where things didn't go as planned. See, we specifically came to this island on this date for this party. We had been looking forward to it our entire trip. BUT...we seriously slept through the entire alarm. I wish I was kidding. I woke up in the middle of the night and realized what had happened, it was too late. We were both so disappointed in ourselves.

Everything happens for a reason... Right??...
