Montmartre

18th arrondissement, Paris, 03.25.2019

Montmartre is the highest point in Paris and is seen as the city's artistic center. During the Belle Époque, which ran from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of World War I, many artists lived in, had studios or worked in or around Montmartre. Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh are among the artists who once called this neighborhood home. At the summit stands the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur, the second most visited site in Paris.
