VETERANS
I overheard people talking in the factory today about some protest that's been going on in Washington, D.C. Apparently, a bunch of retired soldiers from World War I were promised they'd receive bonuses in 1945 for their service in the war. Because of the stock market crash and the millions of unemployed workers that followed, the veterans demanded immediate payment of the bonuses. The government refused to give in. In response other veterans and their families joined and camped out in front of the Capitol. The sit in escalated when a clash with police killed 2 veterans. Hoover called in the army to break them up. Now everyone's talking about how heartless Hoover is and from what I've heard I agree.
