After a few hours sleep, we decide to explore a bit of New Orleans. Getting the streetcar to the Garden District gives us a chance to see in slow motion the stately mansions and grand old oaks that line the streets. As we get off and walk through the old houses in the streets, I wish I could sit on a rocking chair on one of the porches drinking sweet tea and watch the world go by.

I drag Mum and Jamille to the Lafayette Cemetery to view the family crypts and put a mental picture to all those vampire books I've read. Most inscriptions reveal that those interred were born in the early 1800s although there are some in the 1900s. Multiple family members are buried in the same crypt. Later, wandering along Magazine Street, I find a sign that says 'Not Today Satan' and I think this has become my new saying. Bourbon Street visit that night.
