Hannah and Zoe's Journey on the Silk Road

Here in Seleucia we met a trader named Samer. He told us that "The town of Seleucia on the Tigris river had a famous astronomer named Seleucus who suspected the the moon was what controlled the tides. He also agreed with the heliocentric theory promoted by Aristarchus. The heliocentric said that "the earth rotates on an axis and revolves around the sun." The most popular goods that were sold in Seleucia were woolen goods, carpets, curtains, blankets, and rugs. In ancient Iraq, there were a group of monotheistic people who had a religion based around Christianity, Judaism, and Zoroastrianism. When Islam appeared in their area, they were severely oppressed. Many women joined the labor force as teachers, and physicians, with the majority performed unskilled labor." The town of Seleucia had a lasting effect on us!
