One of the best things to do in Bulgaria is definitely hiking in it's beautiful mountains. Many places are still not very easily accessible for someone who doesn't have a car and/or a local guide who knows how to get to places, but it also has its charm. This means you can find pieces of almost untouched beauty without the tourist crowds.
The lakes of the Pirin mountain are just this kind of place. You pass the mountain village Pirin by car, then change to a Jeep to reach the end of the road and then finally start walking. It's just beautiful, and sharing your walk with locals who tell you about their childhood life in the village Pirin make the experience even nicer.
