Dear diary,
This is our second day in Spain. The owner of the hotel we are staying in took us out on his boat. His boat was pretty small. There was only one level. I sat in the front of the boat with Nate. There was enough room there to lie down. I took off my shoes and put my feet in the water. The water was so clear that I could see the bottom every once and a while even though we were already really far out at sea. Sometimes I saw some fish. They were so cool. We stopped the boat so that we could admire a rocky island about the size of a small grocery store. The owner of the hotel was on the boat with us. He let me do something that I have always wanted to do but have never done before. He let me go fishing! He showed me how to put on the bait and how you unravel the string and then throw it out really far. It is not a fun as I thought. After I had waited about ten minutes I wondered why I had ever wanted to go fishing. I felt something tugging on the fishing rod. I was so surprised that I dropped it and it fell out of the boat and into the water. The owner of the hotel tried to grab it but it was sinking. He jumped into the water and got it. I said sorry over and over again. He pulled in the string and there was a fish. It was beautiful. It's scales were silver but they reflected the light so they looked all kinds of different colors. It was wriggling around. I asked the hotel owner if he could put it back in the water. He said yes. I said sorry again about the fishing rod in the water and he said that it was okay and that it was about time that he went for a swim anyways. Then he pulled out some snorkels and said that we could all go snorkeling and I almost fell out of the boat with happiness. I loved snorkeling! I put in the goggles and put the mouthpiece in my mouth. It took me a while to get used to having so little air. Then we all took off our clothes because we were wearing our bathing suits underneath. We all got into the water. My dad held Nate because he couldn't swim super well yet. I put my head underwater and I saw the bottom of the ocean. There was seaweed and other plants. There were also lots of different kinds of fish. It was so amazing. I had only ever been snorkeling on the shore of the ocean, never this far out. I looked behind me and I saw my family. They all looked equally amazed. I saw Nate get water in his snorkel. My dad brought him above water and he took out his mouthpiece. I did the same. I took a deep breath and then I swam down as far as I could. I couldn't even get close to the bottom but I did get close to were some of the big fish were. I went back above water. The hotel owner said that he had a surprise for us and that we should follow him. He swam away from the boat. After a while he stopped and told us to stay as still as we could and look underwater. I looked and I saw the coolest thing that I have ever seen in my life. There were about ten giant turtles swimming under us! There were also three little baby turtles about the size of my fist. They were so cute! Sadly we had to swim back to the boat right after we saw the turtles in case we disturbed them. We had a really fun day.
