Jordan and Egypt

Trekked thru the airport with a shuttle bus in the middle to find my gate. I have a layover of about 7 hours so my intent had been to alternate sitting by the gate and walking around. However my gate area is small and it looks like once you go in you stay. Only one restaurant and a duty-free shop right around here. So I found a seat down the hallway and have parked for awhile. This airport takes COVID seriously - very few seats and half are blocked off. So I will sit here until mid-morning, then backtrack to find coffee. Good thing I brought lots of magazines.

About 11:00 am I started walking around. Found a workstation to plug in the phone and iPad. Read, ate crackers, cheese, and a muffin from the plane, bought some Starbucks double espresso in a can. Trying to stay awake —two hours before we board.

This airport is huge so we took a shuttle bus from our gate to the plane. The woman who sat next to me on the bus is also on my tour. We had a four hour ride to Amman on a smaller plane. No movies this time, a “sandwich” of chopped vegetables in a wrap.

Airport was well-organized with our paper forms checked quickly. An OAT representative took us smoothly through immigration/customs - visa registration fee waived. Forty minute taxi ride to the hotel where we were greeted by Nader, our very tall smiling tour guide dressed in full Arabian headpiece. Beautiful hotel, late dinner of field greens and strawberry salad, fish over vegetables and fries, fresh fruit. Unpacked some things and went to bed.
