The Surf Sabbatical

In spite of the previous day’s craziness, everything went off without a hitch on our second attempt to Portugal. Although, as I write this I cannot tell whether or not I am experiencing extreme jet lag, or an extreme hangover. Despite walking in to our Chicago-Dublin flight with a very responsible plan to take melatonin and pass out immediately and maximize sleep time, Niko and I decided to get drunk. We ordered a glass of champagne and then the refills just kept coming and coming and coming. Our flight attendant was a bubbly, kind, man from Dublin who kept egging us on, walking by every couple of minutes with the bottle in hand to top us off as soon as we took a sip. So, needless to say we are on the hurts a little, with only 2 hours of sleep under our belts. We arrived to Aljezur, where our Airbnb is without much stress. However, when we went to find food, we were met with closed signs
