The Surf Sabbatical

Despite a good morning in SF, Niko and I were feeling more than ready to get out of the city and back into the truck. After brunch, Niko, myself and Lauren drove down to Pacifica to meet up with Matt again and also Niko's friend from home, Andrew and his wife Jaspir. We all had a great time chatting away on the beach. Lauren and Andrew/Jaspir left early to go home while Niko, Matt and I headed to another beach break+brewery for beers and dinner. We contemplated getting a hotel room for the night, the lure of a warm bed inviting on a chilly night, but we opted to camp instead. We had a difficult time trying to find a spot, almost stooping to a beach front parking lot, right next to a few port-a-potties, but we decided to get classy and park by a waste water facility-an obvious step up from port-a-potties. Surprisingly, the spot was really nice, secluded, and not smelly in the least. We'll call it a win, especially in CA, where finding camp spots seems to be incredibly difficult. Some days/nights are not quite as glamorous as others, but getting out of the city and back in our home on wheels feels right.
