Day 23 - All Aboard!

Glacier NP, Montaa, 07.23.2017

We began our day with 10:00 am Mass at St. Richard’s in Columbia, Montana. Very active, welcoming church. Afterwards we did a little food shopping and then headed back to camp.

Around 2:00 pm we drove into the park to Lake McDonald Lodge for a 3:00 pm boat ride. The lodge is lovely… very warm and comfortable with a large fireplace and mounted animal heads. We boarded the boat behind the lodge and debarked with a ranger intern who gave us a history of the lake. She said that the area was originally a low sea lake that was more Caribbean like. Over billions of years of temperature changes, volcanic eruptions and layer upon layer of rock formation, the lake developed into a very deep (450 ft) aqua blue body of water surrounded by very large mountains.

Both of us were so relaxed from the boat ride. We decided to go back to camp and relax the rest of the day. We have really enjoyed the setting of our campground. Lots of shade for a hot day.

Since there has been such poor internet service, we stopped by a Kmart and picked up some DVD’s. One of them was “The Bob Newhart” TV show. For those who remember this show, it was the series before they bought the inn. They were living in Chicago. We have been enjoying these reruns…laugh-out-loud comedy.

We will be offline tomorrow. We want to sleep in, take the car for an oil change, organize and then hitch up for departure in the morning.
