Day 56 - Travel, Traffic & Costco

Manitou, Colorado, 08.25.2017

The trip today from Estes Park, Colorado, home of Rocky Mountain National Park to Manitou Springs, CO – our last stop on the tour before heading back East – should have been less than three hours. It took almost six. Reason? Denver. That city is blowin and growin. On the interstate passing by downtown, we counted at least twenty building cranes. Nice to see growth, but one big downside is traffic. We were bumper to bumper at least half the route, and that’s at 1PM on a weekday. Can’t imagine what rush hour looks like.

One bright spot (for one of us) was finding a Costco along the way, in Broomfield, CO. The whole area was upscale: the town has a median income per household of $446,000. So Costco doesn’t discriminate between rich and poor areas, we guess.

Checked into Manitou Springs RV place. … another camping spot with a flowing creek running behind us.
