Day 36 - Checking Out the Falls

Mt. Olympic National Park, 08.05.2017

This last day in Olympic National Park was scheduled to be only R & R before the trip tomorrow down to Northwest Oregon, but we decided to get out to hike one more time. We were glad we did, because we walked two great trails that ended in waterfalls: Marymere Falls near Crescent Lodge and Sol Duc Falls.

Both trails seemed “staged” with giant ferns, giant redwoods and of course, as the names imply, gorgeous waterfalls. As with other photos posts, it was difficult to select only a few. And those selected don’t quite match the sheer beauty of the landscapes -- but they give you an idea.

Since it was cooler today, 70 degrees instead of 88, the hikes were pleasant and much easier. We treated ourselves to lunch at the Crescent Lake Lodge, a favorite spot of ours that we stayed over at five years earlier on a trip to the peninsula.

Between hikes, we had lunch at the Crescent Lake Lodge on the porch overlooking the lake. Good food and great view.

All in all, it was a terrific end to our stay in the state of Washington. Onward to Lewis and Clark territory.
