Day 22 - Oh Canada!

Waterton NP, Canada, 07.22.2017

Woke up after a not so good sleep due to vacationing family letting kids sleep together in room above us, combined with an hotel built in 1915, when acoustics weren’t considered part of the plan. Oh well, got 30% off after complaining, so it paid for lunch and then some.

Apart from that, the hotel – The Many Glacier in Glacier National Park, was set in an idyllic location that even the above incident couldn’t tarnish. We have not seen a view from our room like this ever, except maybe for Mirror Lake in Lake Placid, NY. Crystal blue water lake backed by 9,000 foot mountain ranges. As with other photos, cameras don’t do justice, but provide an glimpse.

After coffee, drove 40 minutes north to Waterton Lakes NP in Canada, billed as the sister park to Glacier. Another glamorous natural wonder, complete with an English Tea House called the Prince of Wales Hotel, stood looking over another blue sapphire lake at town center near the park. The town of Waterton itself is full of restaurants and one-story restored bungalows.

Following the visit to Canada, returned back to camp via the same over the mountain road called ‘Going to the Sun Road’. The views coming back in the opposite direction from the day before were different because of the reverse angles, making it seem like a new mountain drive experience.

Final note: check out a new grill that we’d highly recommend for quick meals on the road: the Komping grill. Takes only 4 to 6 charcoals, has a built in fan for fast heat spread and is easy to set up and store afterward. Only a few pounds in a nice storage container.

Final-final note: Nana & Pap are holding a mountain goat that is on its way to our wonderful granddaughter Cora!
