Loon Lake to Sudbury Travel Distance: 950 km

Yesterday we left Thunderbay and travelled as far as Sudbury, ON. It was a long day and we definitely were ready for bed when we rolled into our Super 8 accommodations. Not much to report on the travel blog for that day. Drive, drive and more driving.

Sudbury to Toronto Travel Distance: 400 km

Today we arrived in to Toronto by mid day and we headed straight to

Jason and Katie's place just north of downtown. We are spending the next 5 days with everyone here before we head to Ottawa.

Cole is in grade 1 this year, Wyatt is is in Jr.Kindergarden and Logan is only 18 mths old. Each boy is very special and we were so lucky to be able to spend time with them this week. A couple of days we took Cole and Wyatt with us to Sherwood Park to take Roxy for her off leash walk. Boy did Roxy have fun with the boys. They ran and ran with her. At the end of the loop trail there is a playground for kids. Rick and I sat back with Roxy as the boys swung, climbed and jumped for nearly an hour each time. I would give anything to have their energy!

Our trip to Toronto isn't complete without a train ride downtown to go check out the Lawrence Market and wander around downtown a bit.

After sampling a couple of egg tarts at the market we decided to continue in our food sampling and head over to Chinatown for some bakery items. We had BBQ pork buns - both steamed and baked, moon cakes, pineapple cakes and a raisin bun to finish it all off. It is pretty easy to get around Toronto on the metro system. If you are not in a hurry you can hop from underground to street car to bus to get around the downtown. With all the construction and traffic I would not want to drive in Toronto if I don't have to.

While we were in Toronto we had some fantastic meals, great visits and helped out a bit around the house. We didn't plan much as our main purpose was to spend time with the family and take part in anything they had planned or were working on. Jason and Katie did a big renovation on their basement a while back and are starting to set up home gym and organize a few areas in the basement and the rest of the house. As you know a house can be all consuming at times.

There is always something to clean, organize or dust. Not to mention the yard work that goes with it all. It was a great chance for Rick to do some things with Jason while I spent time puttering in the yard and garden shed. Roxy could come and go through the sliding door and the boys would run around the back yard and bounce on the trampoline.

With Katie being back to work, we looked forward to spending some more time together over the weekend when she was home. Sunday we headed down to the waterfront for a lovely Dim Sum brunch and stroll around the waterfront. The boys really love Dim Sum, and can they pack it away! I'll have to remember that when they are in town next.

Toronto was a great to be able to spend some quality time with Jason, Katie, Cole, Wyatt and Logan. It's not often that we get a chance to see them, so being able to be there for 5 days was fantastic. Roxy had a great time with the kids and the kids couldn't give enough hugs to Roxy. The week has been relaxing and a great time to catch up with family.

Tomorrow we are moving on to Ottawa for some more Canadian Road Trip adventures. Stay tuned!
