Yoga and Tour of Rishikesh

Rishikesh, 10.25.2017

So we were up and out to the top floor Studio in time for the 7am Yoga class with Akhilesh. It was well attended and the views of Rishikesh, Himalayas and the Ganges were amazing. I was a bit gobsmacked when a mobile phone went off with a loud ring tone and the owner ignored it, in Rishikesh, really? A little later another one rang and the participant only went and answered it :O I won't say anything else! Akhilesh took it all in his stride and delivered a really good class. Then we got washed and changed and went for a nice stroll along the promenade towards Rishikesh, which we discovered you could get to in just 15 minutes. Back for breakfast then and onto our tour of Rishikesh with Devendra, who is a resident of the town. We drove out just above the town to the Sivananda Ashram (sometime known as The Divine Life Society), Devendra told us he went there daily. We had a good look around various parts of the Ashram including the many outdoor quotes from Swami Sivananda. Then we walked down the hill to get a good view of the Lakshman Jhula bridge. We crossed the bridge and had a look at the statues by the side of the river, and a couple of Ashrams including Parmarth Niketan (where some monkeys showed a bit too much interest in us and we felt the need to scarper LOL). We wandered through the market near Ram Jhula bridge and ended up at the tuk-tuk stop to be collected by our driver. Rishikesh is a lovely town with a nice vibe, a holy town with a beautiful backdrop of the Himalayas and really great people.
