Long Trip to Lithuania

Vilnius, Lithuania, 07.08.2017

Left Gdansk yesterday at 7pm for an overnight trip to Vilnius Lithuania. Didn't do anything in Gdansk on our final day there. We played some cards and basically just wasted the day away until we had to leave the room at 4pm. Went to the bus station to wait for the 7pm bus. Turned out to be a pretty nice bus and a fast trip. Got in a half hour early which is quite rare for buses. We arrived at 6:10am, so we stored our packs at the bus depot and headed out for a coffee and a croissant. No places open at that time on a Saturday morning so we sat in a park and ate a bag of chips we had leftover from our trip. At 9am we went to the tourist information trying to figure out a hot air balloon ride we are hoping to take. Got that tentatively figured

out and headed to a coffee shop for some breakfast. We browsed around looking at a few places and putting together a plan for the next 2 days. Got our bus ticket to the coast for Tuesday and grabbed our packs to head for the AirBnb. What a nice place! Got it cheap at the last minute yesterday and we lucked into a beauty. Situated right in old town where all the good stuff is and being an entire place, it is a perfect set up. We will try to see all that we can tomorrow before doing the Hot Air Balloon on Monday. Cost for the ride is not in the budget but we have been quite a bit below budget in Poland so it is manageable. That and the fact that you only live once. Something I have always wanted to do and Katelyn was really keen to do. Hopefully the weather works for us and we manage to pull it off. We plan on going to the coast to spend a day and a half on the Baltic Sea before heading to Latvia on Tuesday so we only have one shot for this to work. All digits are crossed and we aren't stepping on cracks or crossing paths of black cats. Have found Lithuania to be quite a modern place with a seemingly good economy. Everything is very well organized and nicely put together. Strange how one can have a perception on a place with no credible reason for it. Just assumed this place was rural and poor. We will see how we feel after our 5 days here!
