A Few Days in Warsaw

Warsaw, 07.03.2017

Yesterday was another travel day. We hopped on the train and headed to Warsaw for a couple of days. As we move more north we can feel the weather becoming more like home. The countryside and trees are quite similar. Sat on the train behind an old hippy guitar player. Should have asked who he was. Looked like he had been through a few hard drug sessions in his time. Got to Warsaw and decided to chill for the rest of the day. Starting to come down with some kinda flu so the next few days could be a little less active. Got up in the morning to a cloudy day hovering around twenty. Was feeling not so good, but we decided to go checkout the Warsaw Uprising Museum. Quite an interesting account of what Warsaw did in the war and how others let them down when they needed help. As museums go it was not bad for telling the story. Went to see the Warsaw Ghetto wall and a memorial about the Jewish ghetto.

Decided that was enough so we went for an absolutely fabulous meal before we went home for an early day. Hope we have a little more energy tomorrow so we can do the town properly.
Got up and hit the road by 9:30. Cold and rainy today along with a flu bug makes it not as much fun. Heading for Warsaw old town to see what was left intact from the war. Turned out to be a pretty interesting. Every time it rained we would duck into a church (lots of those in Poland) and wait out the storm. Were hoping to do the Jewish Ghetto Uprising museum but got there to find it is closed on Tuesdays. Who knew? Was some interesting stuff around it, so the

trip was worthwhile. Warsaw got beat and burnt so bad during the war that it was quite an interesting architectural diversity. The old town was better than we thought and was very well put together. Did another great afternoon supper of perogies and sausage. Headed back to our room to take it easy for the rest of the day. Head to Gdansk tomorrow and the sea!
