Lots of Bones........

Kutna Hora, 06.26.2017

Another day trip and more exciting surprises. Decided to go to Kutna Hora about an hour train ride outside of Prague. Someone had told me that the Bone Church was really interesting at Kutna Hora. We got up late and had to scramble to make the 10am train. Arrived around 11 and went straight to the Bone Church. Pretty eerie place, but also different and cool. All the items in the church are made from bones from 40 thousand people who had died in the 14th and 15th centuries. Original altars and decorations by a partially blind monk. Very strange place with all the skulls and femurs around! Didn't take very long to see the church so we decided to check out the rest of the town. Nice little picturesque town with lots of nice statues,

monuments, and churches. At the far end of town we ran into a beautiful big Gothic church. This church was started in the 14th century and never really finished until the 18th. What a fantastic work of art! Spent more time inside and out at the Saint Barbara Cathedral than at the Bone Church. Almost missed our train back, but today was a everything went right day for travel. Got back in time for an early supper of goulash with dumplings and of course beer. Love these day trips that have these unexpected treasures!
