Shall we Gdansk.....

Gdansk, 07.06.2017

Again a travel day yesterday to get to the top of Poland and the Baltic Sea. Said to Katelyn that I was unsure why we were really going to Gdansk. Just wanted to get back to the sea I guess. Arrived on a pleasant train ride (our last Eurorail) and found our AirBnb by 2. Thought we should check out the town a little before the day was done so we headed downtown. Gotta say, nice place! Really like the feel and charm of Gdansk. Always seems that when you expect the least it always turns out to be the best. We had a great meal and headed home determined to get an early start away from the crowds.
We were downtown today by 8:15am. Very few people were around but by 9:30 there was lots. Spent the day wandering around looking

at lots of interesting things. Saw an old crane they used to unload ships in the 1200's, climbed a big tower to get a good view of the Baltic, visited the biggest church in Europe, caught some history of Lech Walesa (from Gdansk). Always admired the strength and conviction of that guy. Turned out to be a nice sunny day, but the early start had us tired out by 3, so we headed back and spent the evening booking our last third of our journey. We now are booked with accommodations and a bit of travel to Helsinki where Katelyn will go home and I will continue on alone. Sad day that will be for me

as I have enjoyed her company a lot. Tomorrow we head to Vilnius in Lithuania on an overnight bus. Really don't know what to expect but I am sure it will be fun.
