Sunday is not a slow day in Napoli...

Napoli, 06.04.2017

Kinda expected a slow day today. Being Sunday I really didn't expect to see lots of people travelling around. Very wrong. People here like to get out and do stuff. Enjoy the day! Made for lots of people on the streets for our day of wandering around Naples. Didn't get out of the AirBnb until 10:30. Stopped for a lazy croissant and a cappuccino at a street vendor and we were off to see what Naples had. First impression was a big, dirty, poor city with a large multicultural population. We worked our way to the old part of the city and saw lots of old buildings which were very interesting. Ended up a the Duomo Basilica San Cattedrale di San Gennaro built in the first century AD. They were in the middle of mass when we arrived so Katelyn and I sat in for the rest of the service. What a beautiful church and a nice relaxing service. Have never thought I would see or experience something like that in a place like that. Very cool! Worked our way down to the coast and walked alongside the ocean

until we saw a couple of castles. This was in the middle of the swankier part of the city. Very interesting how one street can go from rich to poor so fast. We were exploring all told for 6 hours and got back in time to do laundry and rest before a pizza supper. Interesting day in a kind of strange place. Going to Pompeii for a day trip tomorrow. Should be fun.
