West Mountain of Kunming......

Kunming, China, 09.19.2017

Headed out to the West Mountain just outside of Kunming today. I didn't want a stressful travel day. Had enough of those in China. Tough place to travel when you don't know the language and there is no way you can decipher their writing. A lot of my trips so far have been a combination of google translate, pointing, gesturing, and generally looking confused. Someone always seems to come to help me, but it is always a bit of a challenge. The West Mountain was the last stop on the line 3 metro. Easy peesey! Got out of the station and followed the crowd to the ticket booth. Should have researched it

better. Bought a ticket that got me all I needed, but I could have walked more and I would have only paid half. Only paid about $18 altogether so it was a cheap day for the most part. Went right to the top of the mountain with a combination of bus, cable car, and walking. Nice day so the views were okay. Walked down all the way back to the ticket booth going through the dragon's gate and longman grotto. Nothing really super fantastic, but it was nice to see and relaxing. Got back to Kunming early, so I went to Green Park. Just a park in Kunming. Very busy place and lively. Music blasting everywhere with people dancing and enjoying themselves. Seems like Chinese people are genuinely pretty happy relaxed people. They like to have fun and are quick with a smile for you. They have little idiosyncrasies that make them seem stressed, but it is just how they are wired. My elbow is quick now, when they try to push past. They back off pretty quick and don't take it personal. Off to Guilin tomorrow to hopefully see some awesome rice terrace countryside. Another

travel adventure in a new town. Crazy!
