Passports and bags packed, we board Delta at 7:00 PM for an overnight flight from Detroit Metro Airport to Paris Charles de Gaulle. Take off was delayed for about 30 minutes because an elderly Muslim woman refused to go to her assigned seat. Several TSA agents were called onboard to persuade her. She then slowly started pacing down the aisle, muttering Farsi, which made several passengers openly uncomfortable. A flight attendant eventually escorted her to another area of the plane. The pilot apologized for "the confusion" and we took off. After
seven hours flying over the Atlantic Ocean and accounting for the six hour time difference, we land in the City of Light at 8:00 AM. Michelle's luggage didn't make it. The ticket agent in Detroit forgot to tag it and even though maintenance was called to retrieve it, it had gone too far down the conveyor belt for them to get it back. It was tracked down in the abandoned luggage hold in Detroit, flown from Detroit to Atlanta to Paris, and delivered to our hotel, La Tremoille, the following night.
