Old faces reunited with a lady boy or two for good measure...

Krabi, Thailand, 11.06.2016

Day 4 - travel day. 6th nov
So after drinking 2 large coconuts (coconuts are an isotonic and good for replacing salts etc), I felt much better and headed out to meet Jon Wilson for a few drinks (a colleague from work).

We weren’t out too late as he’d just flown in from London, plus I had to leave early in the morning to catch my internal flight as I headed south to Krabi. We went to a really cool bar called Teens of Thailand, which was probably as small as my mums kitchen, but it was here where the ‘cool’ Thai hipsters apparently hung out. We then popped into a few other bars and then headed back to our individual hotels at around midnight.

The flight the next day (the 6th) was only an hour and a half or so, but regardless of this, I had practically lost a day by the time

I arrived at my hotel in Krabi. Now there are two main reasons for my picking Krabi. There are two main airports south of Thailand; Phuket and Krabi. I am flying back to Bangkok via Phuket, so in order to see more of the country I flew down to Krabi instead, and will make my way over to Phuket at some point via boat in order to catch my return connecting flight. The second reason for travelling to Krabi was for a day trip I had booked, which I shall tell you more about in my next post.

Anyway, so I arrived in Krabi at c. 4pm and messaged my old friend from university Ryan Krabb informing him of my arrival.
My hotel was surprisingly nicer than I had anticipated too and I had a huge king-size bed allllll to myself! Lovely Jubley! I was also shocked by HOW different Bangkok is to the south - its so green here! I don't think I have ever seen so many trees in my life!

I met Ryan and Hannah at 5.30ish pm on the Krabi, Aaonong beach front near the large fish sculpture and grabbed a few cans of beer. We then sat on the beach watching the sun set while having a good old catch up. I haven’t seen Ryan in nearly 7 years, so as you can imagine we had a lot to catch up on, plus I had never met his missus before so it was a nice way to start the evening. It was also lovely to be out of the smog of Bangkok, breathe in fresh sea air and feel sand in between my toes.

We grabbed a bite to

eat in a beach side restaurant and then proceeded to find a bar to drink away the rest of the evening. His Girlfriend Hannah and I hit it off like a house on fire and we actually abandoned Ryan in order to go see a lady-boy cabaret show, which Ryan didn’t want to see. Plus the football was on, so he didn’t mind that she and I had deserted him to see some glittery men in drag. After the cabaret it is all a bit of a blur i’ll admit. The photo evidence I have on my phone and lack of cash in my purse indicated that we had gotten quite drunk. All I do remember was that it was a really really great night and I wish I had more time to spend with them both. But alas, we both have our own individual itineraries, and the next day they were moving on to Koh Lanta.

NB – Ryan & Hannah - So glad I met up with you guys, and was lovely to meet you Hannah!

Oz here I come ;) wink wink.

I passed out the second my hit the pillow (go figure) as I looked forward to the adventure I had booked for the next day...
