Day 3: Temple Tours!

Bangkok, 08.14.2019

Best sleep ever, these beds are so comfy!! We headed off around 10am to grab some breakfast. HK found a funky cafe called Not Just Another Cup, where we had a beaut breakfast. Banana and strawberries on toast for me, and some sort of yogurt/smoothie bowl for Hermione - this sorted us right out!
Today we headed to the Grand Palace of Bangkok. It was spectacular, beautiful architecture, all embellished in gold! Next door was the Wat Pho temple where we saw the reclining buddha - this was 160 ft long! We had a lovely Thai lunch at The Deck which had a view of the next temple on our list - Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn. To get to this temple, we got a boat across the Chao Phraya River (this cost around 5p!). This was an amazing white temple, with incredibly steep steps and a 70m high spire. You could walk all along the edge of the first level of the temple and see the view across the river. Before heading back to the hotel, we stopped at a small street cafe so Hermione could try her first fresh coconut! For the evening, we headed out to a trip advisor find, Charm Bar and Eatery, which in our opinion is one of Bangkok's hidden gems. Live music, chilled vibes and great Thai food! We both had a beer (very unusual) and continued the evening at Heaven Rooftop bar which had great views of the city! Here we met 22 year old waiter MIKE, who spoke fantastic English, learning from YouTube!! We had a lovely conversation with him and added him on Facebook. He told us that his idol was Rinaldo and he would one day love to visit England. A great way to finish the evening. We headed back to the hotel at midnight.

A Trip of a Lifetime!
