Day 64: Fraser Island

Fraser Island, 10.14.2019

We said our farewell to the farm after a good breakfast. Eukie the kangaroo even joined us this morning along with Pink Floyd the parrot who came to say ‘hello, good morning’ to each of us. We left around 7:30 and then we were on the road for the majority of the day to head to our next stop, Fraser Island. I didn’t mind the long drive as I watched nearly a whole season of Peaky Blinders! At lunch we stopped in a place called Gin Gin and had pie, mushy peas and gravy at this travellers stop off cafe. The pie was so good! I had a steak pie. I also bought some more caramel MandMs and a cherry ripe to try, Salvatores recommendation. We arrived at the ferry port at Hervey Bay around 3:00pm and then we boarded our ferry to cross the sea to the island half an hour later. This ferry ride only took 45 minutes and then finally we arrived at the hotel at 4:30pm. Our little cabin was really cute. I shared a room with Tessa and Sinead and it was a cute room with bunk beds! We decided to head straight out because we wanted to see the sunset from the beach. It was so beautiful, and it was very peaceful walking along the beach as the sun slowly set. We had a buffet dinner in the evening which was amazing, the fried Brussels were my favourite which surprised me! The coffee iced muffins were also so good! We all had a laugh at the bar tenders expense because an animal had crawled into the air conditioning unit and despite the smell of death, he still worked through it, serving drinks for everyone! The poor guy!
