Day 113: My first NZ pie!

Wanaka, 12.02.2019

Left Franz Joseph around 7:30am and our first stop was Lake Matheson to see the reflection of Fox Glacier. We were so lucky with the weather as we had a perfect reflection which was great for photos, it was sunning! However, towards the afternoon the rain came! We stopped off in a little town called Haas, to have a snack. I had my first New Zealand pie, and chose Steak and Bacon! We then headed to check out Thunder Creek Falls, a gigantic waterfall which was amazing! There were sand flies everywhere however, which were biting at my angles and leaving lots of red marks! Our accommodation for tonight was in Wanaka. The weather was rubbish however, this didn't stop me, Meg, Johnny and Maddie from going out and exploring. We went on a hike up a hill just outside of Wanaka called Mount Iron to see the beautiful town from a height. We got slightly wet however for most of the walk it remained dry! The hike up was tough but the way down was a lot easier! We headed to the supermarket on the way back and Maddie and I got some ingredients to make spag bol this evening. I settled into bed early after Facetiming Sam and then watched The Crown.

A Trip of a Lifetime!
