Day 78: Road Trip Time

Great Ocean Road, 10.28.2019

Today we were up reasonably early as we were starting our Great Ocean Road trip. I was really excited for this as it was something I had been looking forward to doing for a while. It was even better that I could share the experience with Sam. We were really lucky with the weather, this was our first day of sun even though it was still a bit chilly. Our first stop in the GOR was Lorne, where we had fish and chips for lunch on the beach. We then took a nice walk around the bay and walked to the end of Lorne pier to admire the views. We had our first picture taken there together by a little Chinese lady who couldn’t speak much English! After a couple more hours driving along the coastal road and listening to Fleetwood Mac our next stop was Apollo Bay. We stopped here to have a walk around the harbour. It was great to see and hear the big waves crashing against the sea wall. It had warmed up by now too! Before hitting the road again, we had an ice cream each in the sunshine.
The 12 Apostles was our next stop. We were so lucky with the weather for this, beautiful blue skies and the sun was slowly sinking. It was as beautiful as I imagined if not better! The rolled waves looked so incredible and you could literally see for miles. We arrived in Port Campbell around 6pm and were able to find some accommodation for the night easily. A cute like studio with a bedroom, bathroom, and living area with a kitchenette. We put on some more layers and headed out for the evening. We first watched the sunset from the beach and then had dinner and a few drinks at a nearby restaurant. We finished the evening off watching love island in our cute room and I surprised Sam with some new underwear!
