Warm and sunny Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain, 16.03.2017

We always thought that when we got to Barcelona it will be nearing the end of our trip! Well, now we're back from Barcelona and the time has whizzed by! This was the first trip where we took the plane instead of the train. When we got there we found our hotel and went to the Picasso Museum just before it closed. We saw lots of his early art and how it dramatically changed to cubism art! It was so amazing how it changed from looking exactly like a person and then it changed to cubism and some times you have to take a second look to realise what it is!

We discovered that Spanish hot chocolates were literally just hot chocolate, it's just melted chocolate! I loved it, but Mum, Dad and Osh didn't like it at all! We had them at the Quatro Kats cafe, the reason that is so important is that it is the cafe that Pablo Picasso and other creative people liked to hang out!

The next day we went on an E-Bike tour that I found. It was really great as it took you to lots of Gaudi's works!

Park Citadelle: Park Citadelle used to be a military base, but they changed it into a very beautiful park with lots of fountains designed by Gaudi. After that we saw the Arc de Triomphe of Barcelona.

Sagrada Familia: After that we rode to the Sagrada Familia, we didn't go in but we got two amazing views from the front and the back. We thought we will definitely have to go in.

Casa Milo: Then we rode to Casa Milo which is an old house that Gaudi designed for a rich family in the style of a big seaside cliff.

Casa Batlo: After Casa Milo we went down the street to Casa Batlo. It's roof was designed in the style of Saint Michael killing the dragon!

After the bike tour we went to the beach. The beach was another different experience because there were lots of beautiful pebbles scattered everywhere, the sand was also a fair bit more coarse, rocky and pebbly than in Australia.

The next day in the morning we went to the Sagrada Familia, which meant 'sacred family' it referred not only to the holy family but the family of all living beings, plant and animal. We went inside, it was so big and beautiful and everything was based around nature. When the sun shone through the stained glass windows the whole place changed colour.

That evening we went to the Camp Nou experience. We got to go through the players change rooms and then we got to walk onto the field like the players do. It was amazing. We saw all the trophies. It was exciting to know that we were going to see a Barca game there the next night.

The next morning we went to Park Guell, but we had not booked tickets so when we went into the line once you got your ticket you had to wait four hours to be let in! We were allowed though to walk around the park area and Gaudi's house. We didn't get to see the other houses and the famous mosaic lizard.

That night we headed off to the Barca game, Barcelona vs Valencia! We were very lucky on the way there as when we got on the metro there was hardly anyone on the it! When we got there we were heaps early. But that was good because it was a long time to get in and find our seat. Once we were there we were so excited but we just had to wait! From the time the starting whistle blew to the full time whistle we were all super excited! The final score was 4-2 Barcelona's way! When we left the stadium there was a big rush with everyone trying to leave at once! When we got to the metro everyone was jam packed, but when we got to the next few stations there were even more people so we were even more squished than ever! Even at the next station there were a few ambitious people who tried to get in!

The next day we tried to find the Salvador Dali museum but it turned out that it had moved to another city. So we didn't get to do that.

That afternoon we took the bus back to the airport and flew back to Brussels and then took the train back to Leuven.
